Recreation Centre policies

Universal access policy: Massey staff and students with a current Recreation membership now have access privileges to all three campus Recreation Centres.

Casual entry (once off & concessions): Students can pay a once off fee of $10 for one entry to the Recreation Centre or pay for a 10 visit concession card for $70.00. Non Massey students can pay $12 for a single entry or $80.00 for a 10 visit concession card. Concession cards are valid for 6 months after purchase and are non transferable. Each concession allows one entry to all facilities and activities (including Group Fitness).

Casual entry (short visits): Staff or students travelling between campuses with a current Recreation membership will need to produce a recreation ID card or proof of membership purchase from their campus Recreation Centre and sign in with the facility each time they visit.

Transferring to another campus:  Staff or student who changed campuses may seek a reimbursement from their present facility and purchase a new membership at the campus they transfer to. The reimbursement is contingent on: the type of membership purchased, an administrative fee (if warranted) and limited to the value of the remaining time on the existing membership.

Child access policy: The Recreation Centre will not admit any child under the age of six (6) years of age unless the child is fully supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. There are significant hazards in Recreation Centre and it is the responsibility of the parent to ensure the child is kept safe and does not endanger or disturb other users.

  • Children six (6) to fifteen (15) years of age will only be allowed to enter the Recreation Centre under the supervision of a parent or guardian after the appropriate casual entry fee/recreation membership has been paid
  • This applies to entry to the Sports Hall, Events Centre and Squash Courts
  • Children under 15 years of age may not use the Fitness Centre or the Climbing Wall

*A Group Fitness class is generally not a suitable environment for children, we are happy to admit them under adequate supervision. If you do decide to bring your child to group fitness classes we expect that they are placed in a safe position (away from potential harm from dropped weights etc), have their hearing protected and are removed from the class if they disturbs other users.

Photography policy: The taking of photographs inside the Recreation Centre, including the use of cameras on Smart Phones is prohibited without the express permission of Recreation Centre Management. All subjects must be aware and give their permission to be photographed and approve the intended use of any photos.
