Massey University has policies and procedures in place for staff and students who wish to conduct research or teaching involving the importation or development of low risk genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in containment.
All research or teaching involving the importation or development of low risk genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in containment must ensure that their work is done in such a way that any adverse effect on the environment is minimised as specified in the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (HSNO) Act 1996.
All proposals for research or teaching in the above category must comply with the procedures developed by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA).
Before you begin, it is essential that you are familiar with Massey University’s policies and procedures concerning such activities and that you have read the Code of Conduct for Research or Teaching involving the importation or development of genetically modified organisms using recombinant DNA.
