Little Lato – Founder and Chief Gelato Maker
I have helped develop a whole range of different food products for different companies. Some have launched in supermarkets over here and some overseas. But now I have built a brand of my own.
Little Lato is a gelato company where I have developed a whole range of different gelato products. All bespoke Gelato, developed from scratch, all developed from hand, with a real focus on sustainability. So, half the range is plant-based, and all packaging is biodegradable. I've got two outlets at the moment - Crave Café in Morningside and the Auckland Fish Markets in Wynyard Quarter.
I was inspired to do food technology when someone from Massey came and spoke at my school and told me about the degree. That's when I put two and two together and realised that you can have a career where you get to develop new foods. So that got me excited and then a scholarship made that decision to study at Massey really straightforward.
I think that food technology is a great degree that people don't know that much about and I really want to inspire more people to do it.
