Welcome to these web pages, which describe the research, teaching and outreach activities in which the Joint Centre for Disaster Research is involved.

This Centre is a joint venture between Massey University and GNS Science, is located within the School of Psychology and is based at the Wellington Campus of Massey University

Joint Centre for Disaster Research

The Centre undertakes multi-disciplinary applied teaching and research aimed at understanding the impacts of disasters on communities, improving risk management and enhancing community preparedness, response and recovery from various hazard events.

Our publication pages provide access to the newsletters, research reports, journal articles and other outputs created by our staff, students and affiliates.

Massey University has expanded its emergency management qualifications to better equip graduates for the rapidly evolving profession of emergency management.  Check out our teaching programmes to find out what qualification may best suit your needs.

Our Outreach programme is designed to meet the needs of busy professionals.  Our Summer Institute provides a development platform for those involved in emergency management, while conferences, seminars and workshops provide networking and skill updating opportunities.
