About the Massey Institute of Food Science and Technology (MIFST)

Massey Institute of Food Science and Technology (MIFST) combines the expertise, networks and infrastructure of the School of Food and Nutrition, the FoodPilot and Riddet Innovation.

MISFT aligns closely with Riddet Institute CoRE., a National Centre of Research Excellence hosted by Massey University in partnership with the University of Auckland, University of Otago, Plant and Food Research, and AgResearch.

MIFST forms a critical mass with the capacity to deliver world-class research and teaching programmes. By combining and aligning resources, MIFST creates the largest, most talented and most connected cluster of food and nutrition researchers in the Southern Hemisphere. 

In a globally competitive world, we stand out as leaders in helping solve emerging food and nutrition challenges of the 21st century. MIFST collaborates with food innovation leaders, government and the public, to ensure a better understanding of the big food and nutrition issues facing New Zealand and the world.
